Compose a message
You can send messages to faculty, administrators, providers, provider groups, and patients (if patients have PatientAccess accounts).
Note: You can include only one patient recipient per message.
To compose a message:
- From a folder in Messenger, select
.
- Select the To field, and do one of the following:

Begin entering a recipient, and from the drop-down of recipient matches, select a recipient.
- Select
to search for a recipient.
The To recipient page appears.
The To recipient pane appears.
The To recipient search page displays three tabs: User, Patient, and Group.
Note: If none of your patients have accounts, the Patient tab will be grayed-out.
If you choose the:
User tab, you can search by name, provider group. or by ID.
Patient tab, you can search by name or chart #.
Group tab, you can search by group code or description.
- In one of the tabs, enter a recipient in the search box, and then select the Enter key (or Go or Return depending on your device).
- From the drop-down of recipient matches, select a recipient.
- (Optional) Repeat step 2 to add further recipients.
- (Optional) Repeat step 2 to complete the Cc and Bcc fields.
- In the Subject field, enter a subject.
There is a limit of 50 characters applied to the Subject field.
- In the body of the message, enter your message.
There is a limit of 32000 characters applied to the body of the message.

(Optional) If the message is urgent, set the urgent message indicator to Yes
. - Select Send.
A confirmation sent message appears briefly.
